2007 Tutu Fellow Niven Postma will be the African Leadership Institute's Programme Director for the Tutu Fellowship Programme, beginning in January 2025. She will be active during the build up to the first workshop of the 2025 cohort of Tutu Associates at Mont Fleur in South Africa at the beginning of May.  Her responsibilities will focus on the design and delivery of the programme.

Niven has had a wide range of leadership experiences in the public and private sectors as well as not-for-profits. She is a globally respected coach, facilitator, speaker and author on leadership and organisational development, based in Johannesburg, but delivering her services across Africa, the UK and USA with world renowned institutions.

Amongst other assignments, Niven coaches global executive teams to build Whole System Leadership, fundamentally transforming how they are able to work together and what they are able to achieve. She is a guest faculty member at London Business School and Stanford University, and a tutor at Cambridge University’s Institute for Sustainability Leadership. She is also sought-after as a speaker and as a facilitator of bespoke leadership workshops. She also lectures at Henley Business School and on various global leadership development programmes and is the author of the book If you don’t do politics, politics will do you. Her website introduces some of the concepts from the book and gives insights into who she is and her perspectives on leadership.

Niven runs her own company, Niven Postma Inc., in which she works as a strategy, leadership and culture consultant and facilitator for clients in South Africa, the UK, Germany, Scandinavia, and Australia, in industries as diverse as financial services, professional services, media, petrochemicals, retail, and manufacturing.  She also contributes to the “Harvard Business Review”. She has held positions that included being CEO of the Businesswomen’s Association; Head of the South African Reserve Bank Academy; and Head of Leadership and Culture for the Standard Bank Group (the largest bank by assets in Africa).
