The African Leadership Institute received more than 300 nominations for a slot in the Class of 2023 Tutu Fellowship Programme.  As of writing this, the application phase just closed and nominees have completed submitting their applications for the leadership programme. A rigorous selection process is now underway.

Africa is blessed with outstanding young leaders, and the Tutu Fellowship Programme is attracting the best of the best of Africa's emerging leaders.

The applications received were of outstanding quality this year, and to pick only a few from this highly-talented pool is a difficult task for the selection panels. In a highly-competitive, prestigious award of this nature there will be a large number of applicants who will unfortunately be disappointed.

Each candidate is very carefully assessed against the full set of selection criteria by the selection panels on the basis of the information provided in the application form and accompanying documents. The standards in this very competitive field are very high, and often the differences between being selected - or not - are small.

Finalization by selectors of the candidates will take place early in January 2023 when communications with the finalists will occur.

All candidates can track the process at the Key Dates and Deadlines page on the TutuFellows.Africa site.
