2013 Tutu Fellow Danladi Verheijen has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Atlantic Council’s new Freedom and Prosperity Center.  The Atlantic Council is an international affairs think tank that favours a close relationship between North America and Europe on political, economic and defense issues. It manages sixteen regional centers and functional programs related to international security and global economic prosperity.

The news of the appointment was shared by Danladi on his Linkedin page.

He said he is thrilled to be involved in this venture as the Center’s holistic approach to prosperity – one that includes not just financial stability, but health equality, human rights, and environmental considerations – is one that aligns and resonates with his.

One of the main objectives of the Atlantic Council is compiling and maintaining Freedom and Prosperity Indexes. These indexes measure the freedom and prosperity of nearly every country in the world. The Council says these two measures are intrinsically linked together, as the freedoms of a country are routinely correlate well with its prosperity.

Danladi is the Managing Director and co-founder of Verod. Prior to this, he was a Vice President at Citibank Nigeria where he led corporate finance and investment banking transactions and also had responsibility for Citibank’s equity investment portfolio. Danladi also held roles at Ocean and Oil Holdings and at McKinsey & Company.
