2019 Tutu Fellow Sangu Delle JD has been elected as Chairperson of Ashesi University’s Board of Directors. He succeeds Dr. Yaw Asare-Aboagye, who served as Chairperson from 2020 to 2024. Sangu has been a member of the board since 2018.
“I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to the outgoing Chair, Yaw Asare-Aboagye, for his exceptional service and leadership,” Sangu shared. “His dedication has left a lasting impact, and I hope to build on the strong foundation he has laid. I’m excited about the opportunities ahead and look forward to collaborating with Patrick Awuah and the entire Ashesi community as we strive for excellence and innovation in education.”
In addition to serving as the Chairperson of the university's board, he also serves on the board’s Finance Committee and chairs the Audit and Risk, and Legal Committees.
Sangu is currently CEO of Africa Health Holdings, a company focused on building Africa’s healthcare future, and serves as Chairman of Golden Palm Investments Corporation which invests in startups such as Andela, mPharma, and Flutterwave that have collectively raised over $900 million. He is also the co-founder of Cleanacwa, a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing water and sanitation access in underdeveloped communities in Ghana.
Sangu also holds positions on the boards and advisory boards of multiple institutions including Harvard Medical School’s Global Health and Service Advisory Council, and Harvard’s Center for African Studies.
His academic credentials include a degree from Harvard, a doctorate from Harvard Law School, an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Master’s in International Human Rights Law from Oxford. He also earned a PhD in Economic Anthropology and African Studies from the University of Birmingham, and holds Executive Education Certificates in Leadership from Oxford University’s Saïd School of Business and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. He is admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
