Professional History: Mutsa currently serves as the Managing Executive for Consumer Banking at Nedbank, responsible for over 7 million individual clients in South Africa. Prior to that, Mutsa was a partner at McKinsey & Company, and among several roles, he was the lead for the banking practice in Africa during his time there. At McKinsey, he served dozens of retail banks across multiple African countries, and also in Indonesia, Thailand, and Europe.

Mutsa has also previously worked at the World Bank in Washington DC as a Junior Professional associate, as an Economist in the UK Department of Education, and as a trainee accountant at Arthur Andersen in London. He also served for 5 years on the board of Pump Aid, an organization providing safe clean water to villagers in Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Malawi.

Since 2010, Mutsa has published widely on the topics of business growth in Africa, notably a book published by Harvard Business Review “Africa’s Business Revolution”; economic growth in Africa, notably the award-winning report “Lions on the Move”; and on retail banking in Africa, notably the report “Roaring to life: Growth and Innovation in African Retail Banking”.
