Organisation: Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa
Professional History: Mireille is the Executive Director of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa where she has focused extensively on monitoring and reporting on various gross human rights violations by security services and the ongoing Anglophone crisis. Prior to that, and for over 18 years, she held senior management level positions in international development, conflict prevention & resolution, peacebuilding, political reforms, women's peace and security, and gender & democratization. She has demonstrated expertise in negotiation, mediation, and program monitoring and evaluation at national, regional, and international levels. She is also a Gender and Political Affairs Officer at the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA).
Previously, she was a co-founder of and Executive Director of the Shalupe Foundation, a non-profit with the core mission of bringing peace, prosperity, and security to women and young girls in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Mireille is passionate about generating female empowerment for African women through socio-economic development, sustainable programs that alleviate poverty, advocacy, encouragement of collective social entrepreneurship, and health agendas with a more sustainable and entrepreneurial approach.
Mireille has more than 19 years of international and national experience in human capacity building through sustainable community-based ventures, socio-economic development & strategic planning and program design in the non-profit sector. Her experience includes working as a Medical Technologist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, founding or co-founding several organizations affiliated with the global advancement of African women, working as an international consultant, and as a community organizer abroad of the African Diaspora.
She is an MLK award recipient and was named the face of African Solidarity by the African Union. She is a certified Negotiator and African Women Mediator.
Academic and professional credentials: B.Sc. degree in Biology from Northeastern University
MBA in Health care management from Davenport University.
