Professional History: Dr Mandisa a Chief Executive Officer at the Nelson Mandela Children's Hospital. She assumed the role of the CEO of the newest pediatric hospital in Southern Africa in July 2017. Her vast experience in the medical industry has well placed her in a good position to drive the 200-bed facility.
An experienced medical doctor originally from the Eastern Cape, Dr.Mandisa has over 20 years’ experience in the healthcare sector. After she qualified as a medical doctor in 1995 from the then University of Natal, Dr.Mandisa started her career as a GP Physician in Soweto and then went on to establish her private family practice.
She spent the majority of her career in the innovative pharmaceutical industry, working for Merck and Sharpe & Dohme and GlaxoSmithKline, where she was an Area Medical Director: Developing Countries, overseeing medical affairs across 45 countries on three continents.
Before joining the NMCH, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Africa HealthCare, an integrated healthcare company that owns and manages hospitals in the West Rand and in the Free State and also provides emergency medical services.
Dr. Mandisa has extensive experience in Sub-Sahara Africa, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia, in medical marketing practices, clinical research, medical education activities, and negotiations with regulatory authorities, partnering with external stakeholders such as patient organizations and liaising with international organizations.
