Job Title: CEO and chief re-imaginer
Organisation: Innovo Healthcare
Professional History: Dr Rosie Ndhlovu is the CEO and chief re-imaginer at Innovo Healthcare, a primary healthcare company she founded five years ago in South Africa. She is passionate about the business of healthcare and how technology can help us reimagine healthcare delivery.
She believes that most innovations are not inventions necessarily, but a re-imagining of how technology can be put together in a way that creates much value and disrupts the status quo. The business of healthcare has to disrupt the current status quo and how is what makes her curious. Health is the single most important asset in our lives and access to this is still inadequately accessible for the majority of South Africans. Rosie's purpose is to contend this fact, and her mission is to use innovation, technology, and modern collaborative partnerships and solutions to deliver comprehensive healthcare to underserviced primarily rural and peri-urban communities in a quality, affordable model.
Rosie comes from a large corporate background, having held various management positions at Roche Pharmaceuticals, ABSA Capital Investment Banking, Clinix Health Group. This experience has equipped Rosie in medical, product, and project management, as well as experience in developing and implementation projects from pre-feasibility, feasibility, funding to the implementation of projects which she believes, gives a unique lens to tackle this problem. Her search is for a model that can see mobile clinics emerge from the poor step-cousin of charitable efforts into the “adult” – the unorthodox way in which all those far from cities and hospitals can still access high-quality healthcare without traveling too far. She is tackling this question at Innovo and to date has led the teams that have delivered over 67 000 health treatments in mobile clinics over the past 4 years.
