Two Tutu Fellows - Omoni Oboli and Jude Abaga - are collaborating on a movie called Namaste Wahala. Jude, a 2017 Tutu Fellow is a producer on the movie, while Omoni, a 2018 Fellow, is an insider of the Nigerian movie scene.
Namaste Wahala is at the intersection of bollywood and nollywood, featuring a cast drawn from both the Indian subcontinent and Africa. ' It is directed by businesswoman-turned-filmmaker, Hamisha Daryani Ahuja
The title loosely translates to 'Hello Trouble' and is about an inter-cultural love story and wedding and features top movie stars from both countries.
Omoni heads the production and movie equipment rental company in Nigeria, Dioni Visions Limited. She is an actress, scriptwriter, producer and director. Multilingual, she has featured in several groundbreaking Nollywood movies. Jude - known perhaps better as MI Abaga - is the Chief Executive of Chocolate City Music and Entertainment Company, which is one of Africa’s largest indigenous record labels.
The movie was slated to hit theaters in April, but due to COVID-19, the release date is now set back to October 2020. The movie trailer is below.
