Three Fellows have been selected for the MIPAD Global Top 100 2022 list. MIPAD is short for Most Influential People of African Descent.  The three Fellows honored by this selection are 2018 Fellow Hassanatu Mansaray Phd; 2019 Fellow Marcia Ashong; and, 2020 Fellow Olamide 'Kola' Aina.

The list, which is published every year and dates back to 2017, honors influential Africans under the age of 40.  The lists began being developed following the UN's General Assembly Resolution in support of the International Decade for People of African Descent and are usually published to coincide with the opening of the UN General Assembly in New York in September and October.

The MIPAD Top 100 list comprises four categories: Politics and governance; business and entrepreneurship; media and culture; and activism and humanitarianism. It identifies high achievers of African descent from around the world as a progressive network of influencers both in Africa and the wider diaspora.  Some criteria for selection include their achievements in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals; the African Union Agenda 2063; and the Afican Continental Free Trade Agreement.

All three Fellows were selected for the list in the Business and Entrepreneurship category.

Hassanatu is a Senior Policy Specialist with the African Development Bank. She is actively involved in the preparation of the AfDB’s operational policies, strategies, and sustainable development initiatives in Africa, enabling her to contribute to sustainable and transformative development on the continent.

Marcia is the Founder and CEO of TheBoardroom Africa, an initiative that champions women in executive leadership across Africa by working with venture capital and private equity investors, development finance institutions, companies, and organizations to improve female representation in boardrooms and investment committees.

Kola is the General Partner at the early stage African venture capital firm Ventures Platform, where he has led investments in about 30 innovative-category-leading companies.

Tutu Fellows have also been selected for the MIPAD Global Top 100 list in 2017 and 2018.  The full list can be downloaded as a PDF from the MIPAD website.
