2018 Tutu Fellow Nozipho Tshabalala is launching her book, After the Fires - Unlocking the Power of Letting Go.  The book, which is published by Johathan Ball, was launched in Cape Town in mid September 2025.

Nozipho is a communications professional, perhaps best known for her role as a moderator of high-level panels for global and African institutions and in leading conversations of change at corporations and civil society organisations.  She is in demand for her unique and insightful ability to facilitate difficult conversations with courage, depth, and breadth.

afterthefiresbook CoverThe book recounts how "being in control of everything in her life was crucial to her survival and success. For the most part, it had always served her well until it didn’t." It begins with her receiving the news of her mother’s passing while she stood on the biggest stage of her career. This event sends her into a spiral that leads her to reevaluate her ideas of success and what it costs to achieve it.  The publishers describe the book as "a story of growth, courage, and letting go. The memoir also touches on her familial journey, the emotional and physical challenges of infertility, and how she learned to surrender control."  The book outlines her path of discovering that what she had needed to survive might not still be what she needed to thrive.

It includes a chapter devoted to her Mont Fleur experience during the Tutu Leadership programme in 2018, and Fellows who have read the book say it is a 'brilliant and inspiring read'. There are several ways in which it can be purchased, listed at the Jonathan Ball website

You can also learn more about her in an interview with her in AFLI's Tutu Talks Series produced in part
