The final workshop of the 2015 Tutu Leadership Fellowship Programme starts on the 2nd September, and includes a fascinating mix of innovative experiential leadership learning sessions, talks by internationally renowned leaders from different sectors who share their leadership experiences, and Oxford’s leadership experts.
It draws leadership lessons from Shakespeare, music, poetry, the culinary arts, and Plato as well as the lessons of academic research and practical experience. Inevitably with a group of such high potential emerging African leaders we anticipate lively discussion and debate on Africa, its future, the leadership challenges it faces, and in particular the role of young African leaders in the transformation of the continent to exploit its latent potential.
We are fortunate that many sought after speakers have agreed to address the 2015 Tutu Fellowship class, including Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala (former Minister of Finance, Nigeria), Sir Andrew Witty (CEO of GSK), Dr. Ian Goldin (Director, Oxford Martin School, Oxford University), Dr. Ngaire Woods (Dean Blavatnik School of Governance, Oxford University), Prof. Eddie Obeng (Founder Pentacle Virtual Business School), Lord Malloch-Brown (former Deputy Secretary-General United Nations), Bernard Kantor (Managing Director, Investec Bank), Prof. Rana Mitter (Professor of Politics of Modern China, Oxford University), Prof. John Lennox (globally renowned philosopher) and several others of similar ilk.
We hope this proves to be an amazing leadership learning experience for the class of 2015, who will be awarded their Tutu Fellowship certificates at an award dinner at the home of AFLI Trustee Lord Hacking on Friday evening 11th September.
The programme runs from 2nd September to 8th September at the Egrove Park campus of the Said Business School, Oxford University, with excursions to Rhodes House, the University Church for choir practice, Balliol College, and Oxford-China Centre. The programme continues in London where we are hosted by sponsoring companies, Rio Tinto, Investec and GSK, with excursions to the Royal Institute of British Architects, and the Houses of Parliament.
