Email Confirmation Requirement

Mailbox and distributor email spam rules have become far stricter since the African Leadership Institute first created it's subscribe list.  Subscribers who joined the list but did not confirm their email address are now being flagged. To meet these new rules to meet compliance, AFLI is cleaning its mailing list.  This may mean that your email address may be removed and should you wish to keep receiving mail from AFLI, that you will need to resubscribe below and confirm your email address. 13 Tutu Fellows at the 2023 Skoll World Forum

Following a two-year hiatus during COVID, the Skoll World Forum was back in April 2023 in Oxford. The SWF has rightfully earned its reputation as the foremost gathering of actors in the social sector ecosystem.

There was a strong presence of the Tutu Fellows, in various capacities. 2009 Fellow James Mwangi attended in his capacity as a board member of the Foundation, a panelist and a moderator. 2019 Fellow Dr Angela Gichaga was there as a 2022 Skoll Awardee, but now only being able to be celebrated and collect her award in person. 2010 Fellow Bright Simons was yet another Skoll Awardee, from 2019. Other Fellows present were 2018 Fellow Oluseun Onigbinde; and 2017 Fellow Sonkita Conteh who was a panelist on a climate discussion moderated by James Mwangi.

With the support of the Skoll Foundation, a delegation of Fellows driving transformation in the climate and health spaces were also present and included Bilha Ndirangu (2022), Ify Malo (2013), Mwangi Githiru PhD (2010), Dr Tariro Makadzange (2007), Saul Kornik (2008), Prof Yap Boum (2017), and myself (2010).

AFLI hosted a side event, New Leaders Transforming Africa, and engaged various stakeholders who were keen to better understand AFLI’s work and to hear directly from the Fellows about their work and the impact of the Fellowship on them.

It was an intense three days which would not have been complete without an obligatory visit to a pub for a Tutu get-together!  When in Oxford…
