The following is an open letter by co-Founder Peter Wilson to Tutu Fellows and alumni and announced the annual fundraising drive to support the ongoing work of the African Leadership Institute:

The Tutu Leadership Fellowship has given you a world class leadership learning experience and entry into a network of amazing young African leaders – a unique bond of fellowship that links and supports like-minded leaders who are making a difference on the continent.

However funding is needed to sustain the programme and support the network, and we need your help. We have some great sponsors, but they only cover half of what we require as a minimum to continue to offer a world class programme each year to new Fellows and grow the network, as well support the network and build the visibility of the Institute to attract funding and sustain the quality of applicants that we all want to see as members of the Fellowship.

2015 Tutu Fellow Deji Adewunmi has volunteered to coordinate a Tutu Fellows Fundraising Drive with the goal of raising a minimum of $100,000 in 2016 - but he also needs your help. He would like to form a Fundraising Committee, and also have regional/class representatives to help in the initiative. Deji has already pledged $10,000 of his own money to get the ball rolling, and at least 3 others from the 2015 class have pledged $1000, $1000, and $300 before the drive has even started.

This is just a “heads up” communication to advise that a fundraising drive is starting. Deji will be communicating regularly to get the initiative organised with your help, but we look forward to wonderful support from the alumni network.

To help support the ongoing work of the Institute, donations can be made via Paypal or electronic bank transfers. Contact AFLI for further information for electronic transfers.
