Job Title: Director of Country Programmes at Open Ownership
Karabo Rajuili is the Director of Country Programmes at Open Ownership (OO). OO is a global organisation working to advance greater corporate transparency and drive accountability in global financial architecture. In her role, Karabo oversees country teams in Africa, Asia and Latin America in providing implementation support to reform efforts. OO wants beneficial ownership disclosures that are accurate and complete to reduce corruption and tax evasion and results in fair development opportunities, which in turn builds societal trust. Additionally, it supports government efforts to make high-quality data shareable, and educate others how to use that data.
Prior to OO, Karabo worked as head of advocacy at the investigative journalism centre, amaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism, leading in information rights and strategic litigation on matters including state surveillance, corporate transparency, political finance reforms, and environmental governance in South Africa and the region.
She serves on the board of the Media Monitoring Africa Trust and the Saarah Baartman Centre for Women and Children. She holds academic qualifications in political science, fine art and conflict management. She is a Fellow of the International Peace and Security Institute (IPSI) and the African School of Internet Governance (Afrisig).
