Organisation: Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company
Professional History: Sanusi A. Dantata is currently a Project Manager at his family's construction company, the largest indigenous construction company in Nigeria, Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company at their Upper North branch that is based in Kano State, Nigeria. In this capacity, he leads a workforce of more than a thousand workers, both local and expatriates, and oversees some major projects including the reconstruction of the Kano-Maiduguri road, Section 1 (101Km long), and the construction of the Kano Western By-pass dual expressway (26.5Km), both including several bridges and flyovers.
Before assuming this position, he has held many other positions across the company including the assistant project manager for the construction of the Outer Northern Expressway project in Abuja, and as site agent in a number of other road and infrastructure projects all over the country. Mr. Dantata has also worked briefly with Bilfinger Berger in Wiesbaden, Germany, and TAV Construction Co. in Cairo, Egypt. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Dantata has ventured into several initiatives including; co-founder of one of the fastest growing Micro-finance Banks in Kano State, the Grassroots Microfinance Bank, founder of Dantacast Nig. Ltd., a transport based company for the haulage of construction materials, founder of ASADA Small Scale Industrial Layout, a venture that enables more than 130 small scale businesses to setup and operate more profitably, and Dantata Properties Ltd., a growing real estate construction and management business.
Academic and professional credentials: B.Sc. in Civil Engineering and an M.Eng. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering both obtained from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has also studied for periods ranging from one semester to a full year at Cambridge University, Harvard University, Boston University, as well as the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
