Professional History: Takalani Musekwa is the Group Head of Reward, for Discovery. He is a Master Reward Specialist registered with The South African Reward Association (SARA) and a Chartered HR Practitioner registered with the South African Board for People Practice (SABPP). He graduated from the Universities of Kwazulu-Natal and South Africa. He has a BA Hons in Psychology and Master of Business Leadership degrees. Also completed a Management of Change(Organization Development) Programme through Louw Du Toit and Associates, in association with Pepperdine University, USA. Taught Psychology at the University of Venda from 1992 to 1994. Joined Eskom Holdings in 1995, and has worked in several of the Eskom Divisions, namely, Generation Division, Transmission Division, Enterprises Division, and the HR Division. Has held several positions in Eskom, e.g. Senior OD Advisor, HR Manager, Customer Services Manager, and Executive Manager Shared Services. Has been involved in the implementation of the Eskom HR Shared Services and its management from 2005 to 2010. Has received 3 Managers’ Awards in his career in Eskom Holdings Ltd.

Takalani served as the Head of Remuneration and Benefits at the South African Revenue Service (SARS), and as its Chief HR Officer (acting) between 2010 and 2021.

Has presented talks at Conferences on HR topics. The latest presentations were at the SA HR Best Practice Summit 2006, Marcus Evans Shared Services Conference in 2007, IQPC Shared Services Africa Conference 2008, Human Capital Innovation for Oil & Gas Industry, Cairo 2009 and IQPC Shared Services South Africa Conference 2010, IQPC Remuneration Conference South Africa 2012, and MillaSA Remuneration Conference 2017.
In 2007, he was awarded the Archbishop Tutu Leadership Fellowship under the auspices of the African Leadership Institute and Said Business School, Oxford University, UK. He is a former member of the ICASA Remuneration Committee (REMCO) and a former member of the Unemployment Insurance Fund Board (2018-2021)
