Professional History: Janah Ncube is the Global Deputy CEO for Crisis Action. She was promoted in April 2021. Previously, she had been the Global Campaigns Director at Crisis Action. In that role, she oversaw global campaigns to stop wars and ensure the protection of civilians in times of conflict.

Her extensive background includes working as a policy advisor in Africa with skills ranging from strategy development, programme and project development and management including monitoring and evaluation, policy-related work, organizational and financial management including resource mobilization, and leading and managing teams. Janah's expertise includes African and regional institutions such as the AU, the Pan Africa Parliament, the African Development Bank, Regional Economic Communities and regional civil society actors; legislative processes and national parliaments and parliamentary reforms; working with and supporting governments on implementing policies and integrating civil society perspectives in governmental processes; civil society issues; gender and women’s rights; human rights and good governance; conflict resolution and peacebuilding; and poverty monitoring.

Prior to the Crisis Action, she was Pan Africa Director for Oxfam, where she managed 17 affiliates, including being Oxfam's spokesperson on Africa to international and national media outlets. Her work in the last 10 years has had a particular focus on Africa’s regional integration and civil society development on the continent. For more than a decade, she has worked on human rights, with a particular focus on women’s rights. She has also been active in conflict reduction and peacebuilding; reducing poverty and injustice with organizations such as the SADC Secretariat, the Centre for Citizens’ Participation on the African Union, Women in Politics Support Unit amongst others.

In 2005, the University of Bradford gave her an award to recognize her outstanding contribution in managing diversity. She has completed international leadership programmes at Oxford and Exeter Universities and programmes such as Salzburg Seminars, the British Council Performance Leadership Initiative, and the African Women Leadership Institute.
