MILEAD Fellows Program Ghana

Description

The MILEAD Fellows Program is paradigm-shifting initiative committed to the long-term leadership development of emerging women leaders selected as Fellows. Participants in the program benefit from a combination of training, experiential learning and mentoring crafted to build knowledge, skills, strengthen networks, and support women’s leadership on critical issues. In addition, the program links determined young women with influential and seasoned African leaders who are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation. Most importantly, upon graduation, Fellows benefit from life-long solidarity and support through the MILEAD Network and a supportive eco-system. One of the distinguishing features of the MILEAD program is the deliberate integration of community service to the yearlong training. Every Fellow conceptualizes and implements a community change project that addresses a critical issue of importance in their community. Currently, there are over 100 MiCHANGE projects in operation across the continent- positively impacting thousands of lives. Program phases inlude 1) Education and training, 2) Mentoring, networking, and professional exchanges, and coaching 3) Support and resource assistance. The program recruits’ women throughout Africa as well as refugees and immigrants who have settled in the United States. The program recruits’ young women leaders throughout Africa and the Diaspora. The MILEAD programs target three categories of young women and girls: MILEAD Fellows Program for 19-25-year olds; Moremi Initiative Girls Congress for 13 – 18-year olds; and School-based Girls Congress for 9-12-year olds.
