2011 Tutu Fellow Charles Washoma has been appointed as Vice President of International Affiliated Institutes at the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). The appointment was made on 26 October 2020.
The CII is the largest professional body operating in the insurance and financial services market and has membership of over 129,000. Governments, regulators and employers see the organisation as an important source of thought leadership, expertise and best practice.
Charles Washoma is a business executive and management consultant with more than 25 years’ of work experience, 22 of which has been at senior management, executive and board of directors’ level in insurance, risk management, and consulting.
As the CII’s Vice President for International Affiliated Institutes he is responsible for supporting the work of the CII, and in particular, the delivery of the CII’s international strategy. His role encompasses strengthening the CII’s offer to members based outside the UK, as well as developing the range of products and services to build public trust in the insurance and financial planning profession in markets across the world.
In his CII role, he also serves as Chairman of the International Affiliated Institute Forum (IAIF) which is made up of representatives from the CII’s International Affiliated Institutes and acts as a mechanism for the CII to consult the Affiliated Institute network, and to feed back issues and concerns to the institute.
