Investec Bank has appointed 2016 Tutu Fellow Cumesh Moodliar as its CEO, succeeding Richard Wainwright, who is set to retire in 2025. Investec is a specialized lending powerhouse listed on both the JSE and London stock exchanges.

Investec Group's CEO, Fani Titi, said he had confidence in Cumesh's abilities.  He said Cumesh had been successful in steering Investec's Private Banking unit and recognized his track record of strong leadership. 

Cumesh's journey within Investec spans a decade, during which he has held various pivotal positions. His most recent role within Investec's Private Banking unit served as a testament to his leadership prowess and strategic acumen. Business publications report that he has been instrumental in the growth of the South African private bank, transforming it into one of Investec Group's most substantial businesses and contributors to profitability.  Cumesh joined the company in 2012, was head of Investec Private Bank in the Eastern Cape, and then National Head of Banking. He's been the Head of Private Bank SA since 2018 and Head of Private Client since October 2022.
