Professional History


Theo is the founder of African Dermal Science which produces a skincare line for African skin. Passionate about increasing access to healthcare in Africa, Theo has experience in the pharmaceutical industry with both local, regional and multinational exposure. She graduated as a Medical Doctor and followed that by practicing medicine for a number of years in different South African hospitals in both urban and township areas. Having always had an interest in business, she then joined Roche Pharmaceuticals as a Medical Manager and has since served in various roles in medical affairs, market access and health economics in South Africa and the rest of Sub-Sahara Africa with special focus on Nigeria, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia and Mauritius. Theo has leadership experience in the development of local and regional strategic projects in Clinical Research, Medical Marketing, Public Sector Partnerships, Market Access Strategies and Healthcare Compliance. It was while Theo was the Head of Medical Affairs for Roche South Africa that she decided she wanted to start her own company and went on to launch Uso, her skincare range for African skin. She sits on the Board of the South African Marketing Code Authority. In 2019, her company's product, Uso Active Day Cream, won 1st and 2nd runner up in two categories in the SA Pharmaceutical and Cosmetics Review Awards, which recognize products for excellence in Formulation, Packaging, Regulations and Compliance, and Marketing.
