Patient access to medicine

Ogejuma Emmanuel

In his role at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical Nigeria, 2012 Tutu Fellow Ogejuma Emmanuel began an inititiative to that set as its aim the goal of providing affordable and quality medicines to the destitute living living in semi-urban and rural areas.

His community project for the Archbishop Tutu Fellowship Programme was implementing a system to help with improving access to quality healthcare among the destitute in Nigeria by donating quality medical supplies and medicines to selected orphanages and destitute homes. To date six homes have benefited from this project.

He said that his experience in the Tutu Leadership programme had prompted him to leverage his position with GSK to help the poor, as did the programme itself.
