Professional History

Bright B. Simons is a Ghanaian Policy Activist and Social Entrepreneur. In his first role, he seeks to broaden the participation of non-technocrats in the debate about strategic choices for African development by championing transparency and decision-making accountability. In the second he works to unlock the powers of the market in tackling large-scale problems that defy straitjacket state-sector solutions. These roles are primarily exercised in his capacity as the Director of Development Research at the award-winning African think tank IMANI (www.imanighana.org), and as the President of the mPedigree Network (www.mPedigree.Net). His duties have led to speaking engagements around the world and consequently to numerous citations in the international press, ranging from the Economist, New York Times, the Financial Times, Asian Times, and the BBC, where he is a regular commentator for the World Service. An emerging global thought leader, Bright was invited in 2008 by the World Economic Forum to its Technology Pioneer Community at Davos and later to its Global Agenda Councils (the organization)
