Tutu Talks: Catherine Constantinides on being active citizens

In a Tutu Talk in December 2021, 2013 Tutu Fellow Catherine Constantinides calls on young people to be active citizens and to commit to social change.

TutuTalks is a platform for African leaders who embody the values and ethics displayed by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu throughout his life of service and is a partnership with the Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation and the African Leadership Institute.

Catherine walks the talk and is a United Nations (UN) human rights defender who actively advocates, in Geneva at the UN Human Rights Council, for the world’s most marginalised and vulnerable.

She says governments make endless promises to their citizens, so it is up to citizens to show up and make real the nation-building, citizenship, and the collective future they want to see.

The interview is also found at the Tutu Legacy Foundation YouTube channel.

You can also watch her TEDx talk that similarly grapples with the subject.
