Tutu Fellow releases new hip hop album

2017 Archbishop Tutu Fellow and Nigerian hip hop artist and CEO of the record label, Chocolate City, Jude Abaga - also known as “M.I” - has just released a new album, which is a follow-up to his 2014 studio album, The Chairman.

His new album is titled, A Study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl. The new album highlights important themes of introspection and self-worth and borrows heavily from his journey on the Archbishop Tutu Programme. The album reflects M.I.’s growth as a leader and as an artist.

Between rhymes, M.I. uses sourced audio clips; two of which include a powerful monologued guest appearance by psychologist Dr Caryn Solomon, who works with the Tutu Fellows in developing their self-awareness on the Tutu Programme.

A Study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl aims to motivate, inspire and urge everyone to do better, and the same time, entertain and energize by bringing that sauce, coolness and grit appreciated in rap music.

The multiple-award winning rapper and 2012 United Nations Goodwill Ambassador broke into the industry after his groundbreaking single Crowd Mentality and has been a force to reckon with since as one of the few people to greatly influence mainstream hip hop in Nigeria.

A Study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl by MI Abaga is available on iTunes.
