South African power utility appoints Fellow as GM of People Relations

2006 Tutu Fellow Thulane Ngele PhD has been appointed as the General Manager People Relations at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, where his role has been described as delivering people relations solutions that are grounded on theoretical concepts, fuelled by data and led by insights.  Thulane was appointed on 1 October 2020. Eskom is the largest producer of electricity in Africa.

Prior to this appointment, he was Head of Employment Relations and Employment Equity & People Governance and Assurance at Absa Group Limited. On a part-time basis, he pursues his love for education through supervising and marking MBA dissertations at Milpark Business School.

Ifeoma Malo named Nigerian Power Industry Leader of the Year

2013 Tutu Fellow Ifeoma Malo has been awarded the Power Industry Leader of the Year at the prestigious Nigerian African Power, Energy and Water Industry Awards

Ify is the Nigerian Campaign Director for Power for All, a global decentralized renewable campaign organization. She is also the founder and CEO of Clean Tech Hub and the Energy Innovation Center in Abuja. She was the immediate past Senior Policy Adviser on Energy Policies, Regulations and Partnerships to the Minister of Power in Nigeria and advised on the policy direction for large-scale grid-connected and off-grid power.

Ify Malo named as an African Power & Energy Elite 2020

2013 Fellow Ify Malo has been named as one of the African Power & Energy Elites 2020 Projects and Leaders in their annual industry journal. Those selected were named by their industry peers. In a collaborative effort, the African Power & Energy Elites publication and the 2020 African Power, Energy and Water Industry Awards worked together in a unified nomination and selection process.

The journal said that these were people who were leaders in their industry at a time in which the world was entering a Peak Decade that would disrupt business and investment across all sectors. At the World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, this decade was described as including Peak Globalisation; Peak Capitalism; Peak Inequality; Peak Youth; Peak Climate Change; Peak Oil Demand; Peak Cars - all of which were directly or indirectly connected to the modern power and energy network.
