2017 Tutu Fellows 'Bosun Tijani and Abayomi Awobokun have joined forces to develop and host the first STEMCafe, a creativity play space designed to introduce children between the ages 5-18 to science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in a fun and engaging way.  'Bosun started up CCHub, an innovation and technology accelerator, and Abayomi is growing a network of energy, fuel and convenience store locations across Nigeria through his company, Enyo Retail & Supply.

By providing a STEM learning environment at facilities hosted at Enyo service stations, the STEMCafe initiative leverages the assets and expertise of the two founders’ companies. Since its founding in 2017, Enyo has grown to 70 locations across the country.

According to Abayomi, “We want our service stations to be more than just about gas, but community-based. Enyo’s dedication to strategically positioning itself is not limited to the oil and gas retail industry but cuts across the incorporation of technology, innovation and customer service as a part of its operations.”

'Bosun believes there is an urgent need for an extensive application of scientific and technological breakthroughs to leapfrog development across Africa. He says that exposing young people to STEM at an early age is one sure way of building a generation of innovators and thinkers who will sustain and strengthen the evolving position of Africa in the world. "I am extremely excited to once again contribute to building a fun platform that will build a new generation of leaders for science and technology across Africa through the STEMCafe," he said.  "Education and technology are two things we are passionate about at CcHUB and being able to extend our ideas, philosophy and know-how to children, through the STEM Café, is something we consider as groundbreaking”.

The initiative launched in April 2019, and since then STEMCafes have been opened in Lagos and Abuja with more being rolled out.
