Fellow wins banking award

2018 Tutu Fellow, Sizwe Damane, was honoured at the 2018 ABSA Corporate Investment Banking (CIB) Excellence Awards for his work in risk management. The awards were announced at a corporate black tie event held on Friday, 22 February 2019, at the prestigious Inanda Polo Club in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Sizwe joined a list of 18 very exceptional colleagues who were also finalists; and who, according to the CIB ABSA CEO, Charles Russon, demonstrate the breadth of talent showcased in the banking sector.
”These awards are designed to celebrate, recognise and reward our people for their commitment and dedication to making our business a truly Pan-African business”, said Russon. The winners (along with their partners) scooped the grand prize of an all-expenses paid trip to Cancún in Mexico, where they will enjoy seven days of breath-taking views and exceptional experiences of the coast.
Sizwe has dedicated a good portion of his time in community involvement. He also initiated the youth empowerment project, Everybody has a Story to Tell, at Barclays Africa’s Corporate and Investment Bank. This initiative sought to create and spread the hope of success amongst the South African youth, in spite of the different challenges they face on a day-to-day basis.
