The seventh edition of Choiseul 100 Africa – the Economic Leaders for Tomorrow 2020 has been released, honoring the most talented leaders of their generation who have had a positive impact on the continent's economic development, on society, and Africa’s success. Over the years, a number of Tutu Fellows have made previous lists. In this latest edition, eight were selected for the 2020 100 listing and a further eight for the 2020 200 listing.

The list is compiled independently by the Choiseul Institute every year, identifying and ranking African leaders under the age of 40 who are playing an important role in Africa’s future.

The following Fellows are in the top 100 list: 2014 Tutu Fellow Ada Osakwe; 2015 Tutu Fellow Nonzukiso Siyotula; 2017 Tutu Fellows Samuel Kariuki and Natalie Jabangwe; three Fellows from the Class of 2018,  Adebola Williams, Lynette Ntuli, and Mohamed El Dahshan; and 2019 Tutu Fellow Akim Daouda.

In the next category, the Choiseul 101-200 list, the Fellows are: 2009 Tutu Fellow Mapule Mzimba; 2015 Tutu Fellow Ayodeji Adewunmi; 2017 Tutu Fellow Ahmed Zahran; 2019 Tutu Fellows Sangu DelleSimbarashe Mhuriro, and Issam Chleuh; and, 2020 Tutu Fellows Kader Kaneye and Teresa Mbagaya.

In the difficult context of a pandemic year, the Institute says that Africa has leaned on these young leaders who have handled the economic crisis well with their proactive policies and innovative ideas. The Institute said that these exceptional personalities had reinvented themselves to face the adversity of the crisis. Because of that, the people on this year’s Choiseul 100 Africa’s list are worthy of even greater appreciation and admiration.

The experts and specialists of the Institute worked on the rankings for several months and described it as an ambitious and unique study of the dynamics of the African economy. The list was released at the close of 2019 for 2020. You can find the 2020 full list on the Choiseul Institute’s website.
