Fellow to launch Africa chapter for medical practitioners

2017 Tutu Fellow Dr. William Mwiti has been appointed to the Executive Leadership Committee of the Medical Affairs Professional Society (MAPS) for the EMEA Region. MAPS is the premiere non-profit global society of Medical Affairs professionals across a spectrum of fields, experience, and locales.

The Executive Leadership Committee is responsible for ensuring the Vision and Mission of MAPS is achieved in all the society’s initiatives in the geographical region comprised of Europe, including the United Kingdom, Middle East and Africa. In his role, William will be directly involved in setting up an Africa Chapter.

He will be bringing together medical affairs practitioners working across industry to have better representation in the regional and global organization. He will also be part of the Faculty and panel speakers at the upcoming inaugural congress to be held between the 21-24th of October 2018 in Berlin in Germany.

Dr Mwiti is an Affiliate member of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine and holds a First-Class Master’s Degree in Pharmaceutical Medicine from Ireland and serves as a Global Medical Director, Quality and Risk Management, Safety and Medical Governance at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals.
