Professional History


Cynthia Mosunmola Umoru is an agribusiness entrepreneur who started her journey straight out of college with Honeysuckles PTL Ventures, marketing freshly processed chickens, snails, and catfish to quick-service restaurants in Nigeria. She proudly calls herself a 'Pretty Miss Farmer” farmer' as she is on a mission to rebrand agriculture and make it appealing to young people.. Now, heading up Harvesters Farms, Cynthia's daily role is to oversee the development & operations of a 7,000-hectare agribusiness engaged principally in farming, food production, processing, and distribution of a wide range of products, and Farm shop, a retail brand for freshly processed farm produce. She is an Ashoka Fellow and Goldman Sachs 10,000 women Scholar, who has served as an ambassador, advocate, and consultant to the African Union Commission (Youth Division). Cynthia set up ABIRA Agricultural and Educational Support Initiative to help bridge the gaps identified in Nigeria and to pursue significant youth involvement in the sector, realizing that sustainable economic growth rests on SME development. ABIRA engages schools, governments, and businesses through a range of highly impactful partnerships and interventions and establishes a training program to teach business to young people. Cynthia serves on the Boards of several growing businesses in Nigeria. Her advocacy initiatives for the Agricultural sector have earned several awards and consultancy roles in Africa. She is a Young Global Leader has been selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.
She is a former advisor to the Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria.
