Professional History


Roselyn Kemp heads the Human Resource Development, Talent Management, Talent Acquisition, Performance & Organizational Effectiveness function for Thungela Resources, South Africa. Thungela is formerly Anglo American Coal.  Her career spans more than 18 years and she has worked within the Anglo American stable for the 15 years prior to joining Anglo American Coal which later demerged and formed the Thungela Resources business operation.

Her career started as a young professional with Anglo American Platinum and has since progressed through various senior roles. Prior to Anglo Coal she was the Group Talent Advisor for Anglo American UK where she built her global exposure with interaction spanning across South Africa, Botswana, Singapore, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Australia, and London. Her focus was to provide senior leadership talent solutions supporting the overall group strategy to deliver sustainable levels of talent in support of group succession planning, development, and resourcing agendas.

On a personal level, she’s active in transformational gender diversity issues and in advancing the role of women in mining. Her portfolio includes the management of young bursars and graduates where she’s actively driving the education, development and mentoring of young people.  She says education is an important lever in unlocking meaningful transformation in the lives of host communities and society at large.

She’s currently completing her MBA.
