Job Title: Founder and Managing Director of Oxygen Africa

Professional History


Simbarashe is the Founder and Managing Director of Oxygen Africa, a Zimbabwean renewable energy development company. Simba is an Independent Non-Executive Director of Stanbic Bank Zimbabwe Limited, a member of the Standard Bank Group; the leading banking and financial services group in Africa and largest in terms of assets. He is also a member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Entrepreneurship for 2018 – 2019 and the Shared Value Africa Initiative’s Africa Council of 8. Simba has been awarded the prestigious Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellowship by the African Leadership Institute & the Oxford University’s Said Business School. Simba has also played an advisory role as part of the expert working groups on renewable energy, innovation, entrepreneurship, and SME development for Pan African projects run by the African Union Commission, European Union, and World Health Organisation Africa Region. Simba is also a Member of the Board of Directors & Chairman of the Transformation and Strategy Committee for the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe an affiliate of the Institute of Directors UK and a member of the Institute of Directors in Southern Africa.

In both 2018 & 2016, Simba has been named by Forbes Magazine as one of Africa’s 30 most promising & inspirational young entrepreneurs in Africa. Simba has also been recognized by the Africa Youth Awards as one of the 100 Most Influential Young Africans of the year. AFK Insider magazine named him among 12 Most Promising African Entrepreneurs of 2016 whilst in 2017 Africa.com named him among 40 Africans Under 40 – Making It In Africa. Africa Innovation Summit listed Simba’s project as one of the Top 50 Innovations in Africa for 2018. In October of 2018, the Institut Choiseul of France named Simba as one of Africa’s 200 economic leaders of tomorrow. The Zimbabwe chapter of the Junior Chamber International named Simba as one of the 2018 Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Zimbabwe. Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Contribution to the Youth Sector in Zimbabwe by the Ministry of Youth Sports, Arts and Recreation.

Simba was also named in the Destiny Man Power of 40 2018 Report which chronicles the most dynamic young men in the subcontinent and the young independents Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) top 100 trailblazers for 2018. The Foremag Top 10 African Men Under 40 Making a Difference in Africa 2019. Oxygen Energy is an Oxford University textbook case study referenced in the book Introduction to Business Management 11th Edition by Oxford University Press.
