Professional History

Lawyer turned entrepreneur, Monica Musonda is CEO & Founder of Java Foods, a Zambian based food processing company established to provide affordable nutrition to the Southern African market. Java Foods seeks to capitalize on the changing consumption patterns of the African youth market by offering them affordable and nutritious food options made from local products.

Monica is a dual-qualified English solicitor and Zambian advocate with more than 15 years of post qualification experience. She has held senior positions in private practice with Clifford Chance & Edward Nathan and working as in house corporate counsel at International Finance Corporation and for Aliko Dangote at Dangote Industries Limited in Lagos, Nigeria.

In 2019, she was appointed by UN Secretary General António Guterres to serve on a committee with 27 other global leaders to combat malnutrition across the world.  The committee forms part of the UN's Scaling Up Nutrition movement, which is set to enter it's third renewal and continue until 2025.  She has also been appointed to serve on the CAF Governance and Ethics Committee.  CAF - the Confederation of African Football - is the administrative and controlling body for African Association Football and is the largest of six continental confederations of FIFA, the world body.   Monica is also chairperson of Airtel Networks Zambia Plc, and sits on the board of Arcelor Mittal South Africa Ltd., African Life Assurance Co. Ltd., Zambia Sugar Plc and Dangote Industries Ltd.
