Occupational Position: Senior Political Analyst and Acting Country Manager (Zimbabwe Desk) in the Department of International Relations & Cooperation

Professional History

He manages the analytical responsibilities and staff component of the Desk, while also undertaking the broader diplomatic, financial and administrative duties of the Desk. He has first-hand experience on the field in observing and monitoring elections in Zimbabwe (2008); the Republic of Southern Sudan referendum (2011); and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) (2011). More importantly, his work in various African countries (Zimbabwe, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, DRC, Sudan, Cameroon, Ghana, Nigeria and Morocco) has exposed him to how complex domestic and international political, economic and social factors, hidden from the normal social sciences practitioner, continue to shape political dynamics in Africa. Dr Siwisa has a fairly extensive academic experience, having worked as a Programme Manager for the Masters in South African Politics and Political Economy and a Senior Lecturer in Politics at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. He also had a stint working as a Senior Research Associate at the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) in Accra, Ghana.
