Job Title: Founder of Narachi Leadership

Professional History


Rachel is the founder of Narachi Leadership, a practice aimed at developing deep benches of leaders across Africa. Rachel has been coaching and developing high-impact leaders her entire professional career. Having trained and worked in top institutions across the world, including at McKinsey, Yale University, Allan Gray Orbis, and Newfield, Rachel understands the business of excellence in leadership intimately. Her ambition is to transform and empower African leaders with tools to accelerate their own development and that of their environments through training and coaching.

Her previous role was at Yale University, where she was Associate Director for Africa. She helped develop and implement the strategy for the university’s partnerships on the continent. Prior to that, she was at McKinsey and Company where she was head of the McKinsey Leadership Program (MLP) which she co-designed, implemented, and managed. She also has worked at Allan Gray Orbis Foundation where she was Regional Program Manager for leadership and entrepreneurship, Gauteng Region.

Rachel is a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, a Mellon Mays Fellow, and a Felix Scholar. She is a recipient of the Mellon Mays Leadership and Service Award. She is an expert panelist for the Global Diversity Collegium. She also writes on various topics including race relations, culture, education, and leadership and speaks on panels and events relevant to leadership development and education.  She was listed on the African Youth Awards' 2019 100 Most Influential Young Africans.

Masters of Science in African Studies, Oxford University (dissertation with distinction)
Honours degree in Social Anthropology, University of Cape Town (cum laude)
Bachelor of Social Science in Anthropology, Media and Writing (cum laude)
