In 2008, Andrew won the International Press Freedom Award from the Committee to Protect Journalists and was nominated by The World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader.Mwenda worked as General Manager of KFM radio, hosted the most popular radio talk-show in Uganda and worked as Political Editor of Daily Monitor newspaper. He has consulted for the World Bank, World Resources Institute and Transparency International. He has written for international newspapers like Des Spiegel and the International Herald Tribune and done documentaries for BBC television and radio. He has taught at Makerere University, been a visiting fellow at the Africa Study Centre of the University of Leiden in the Netherlands and a guest lecturer at the University of Florida at Gainesville
