Mr. Mchechu is a member of several boards and committees, in various roles.

Professional History

Mr. Mchechu is currently managing the Tanzania's State owned Corporation (National Housing Corporation), the largest real estate company in East and Central Africa; which has a capital base of over USD 1.4 Billion. Mr. Mchechu took on NHC in 2010 at the time a challenge as it was underperforming and required some restructuring and strategizing. Along with his track record for successful restructuring skills in his career, he has managed to transform NHC from a bureaucratic non-performer to a higher efficiency profit making organization. Before NHC Mr. Mchechu was the MD & CEO of CBA (Commercial Bank of Africa) during which he was also the youngest CEO within the Banking Sector in East Africa. He managed to strategically transform the loss making to a profit making Bank within only a year. This displayed his extensive experience which he has gained from his previous roles as Alternative Director; Head of Global and Co-Head Wholesale Banking, during which he was instrumental in introducing the new second horizon products and therefore raising the number of products offering from three to twelve at Standard Chartered Bank. He has also worked with Citibank and Barclays Bank Tanzania Ltd.
