Professional History


Yolan is the CEO of The Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) which was established in 1973 and is today, one of the leading conservation NGOs in southern Africa. The Trust runs more than 80 projects which have a reach into 13 African countries and across a wide diversity of species, ecosystems and habitat types.

An experienced Chief Executive Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the environmental services industry, Yolan has also served on a number of Boards adding to her strong corporate governance experience and knowledge base. She is skilled in Business Development and Organisational Management, Communications and Marketing, Wildlife Management, Sustainable Development, Environmental Compliance, Biodiversity, and Environmental Governance, Fundraising, and Strategy Development. Yolan is a strong business development professional with substantial experience on various boards and board subcommittees, with proficiency in corporate governance. Grounded in the firm belief in the power of ethical leadership, social equity, and environmental justice and as critical drivers of all business growth, Yolan brings a fresh and innovative approach to all the organizations she serves.

She is a firm believer that the power of ethical leadership is a transformative tool, and that there is a need to create shared value through a shared vision. Yolan has participated in a variety of leadership development programmes.

She currently serves on the Board of the Institute of Directors for Southern Africa, the Tourism Conservation Fund, and the Advisory Committee for the United Nations Global Compact in South Africa.
