Professional History


Dr Abdu Mukhtar PhD is the Director of the Industrial and Trade Development of the African Development bank. Previously, he was the Group Chief Strategy Officer at the Dangote Group of Industries, Nigeria. Abdu has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors. He has held several positions including Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Economic Matters; Transaction Adviser at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE); Consultant with Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath (PRTM) Consulting, Boston; Consultant, Harvard Centre For International Development and Research Associate at the Boston University Medical Centre.

Abdu is the recipient of several prestigious awards and was profiled in the 2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 20th Century and the Millennium edition of Who’s Who in America: Science and Engineering.  He is a member of the Boston Cancer Research Association, Massachusetts Medical Society, New York Academy of Sciences, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society of Gene Therapy, and Fellow of the US National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
