Shaka is media-technologist with a passion for start-ups. He recently founded IKGB Media, a media tracking and analysis firm that provides insight into what the media says about specific brands and topics, as well as emerging thought trends. IKGB also gives advertisers assurance of whether their adverts have actually flighted; in many African countries advertisers lose up to 40% of value due to incorrect or non-flighting at all. Eduze Media, another start-up venture is a digital content management developer that provides the mass consumer market with free WIFI-based access to compelling entertainment and educational content on their smartphones. Eduze was a finalsit at DEMO Africa 2013.
He serves on the board of David Philips, a renowned publisher of seminal South African works and 6 time winner of the Alan Patton awards. Previously, Shaka co-founded the telecommunications wing of $100m ITEC group, and served as executive in medium-sized media companies (under $ 10m) for over a decade. As co-founder of an incubator, he worked with start-ups in SA, DRC, Lesotho, Zambia and Zimbabwe since 1999. Shaka was the founding CE of Cheesekids which has in the past 5 years mobilized 20,000 young people to volunteer with different causes in Southen Africa. Chesekids also hosts annual Mandela Day events uniting thousands in volunteerism and community service. He serves on the board of Africa
