Occupation: Law and Project Finance Advisory

Occupational Position: Director of Delta Built Environment Consultants (Pty) Ltd (Delta BEC), a multi-disciplinary built environment consulting firm based in South Africa. The firm provides a range of services including consulting engineering (civil, structural, electrical and mechanical); architecture; quantity surveying; urban design and planning; feasibility assessments and business planning as well as socio-economic impact assessments. He also runs a boutique legal practice, LN Luthuli Incorporated, which offers built environment related legal services.

Projects


He is the Assistant General Secretary of the Rhodes Scholarships in Southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia and Swaziland) and sits on the scholarships South African national selection committee. The Rhodes Scholarships are administered by the The Rhodes Trust, an educational charity whose principal activity is to support scholars selected from 14 constituencies globally in order to study at the University of Oxford. He is a member (appointed by the South African Minister of Higher Education) and formed vice chairman of the governing board (Council) of the Durban University of Technology in South Africa. He is also a trustee of the Carl & Emily Fuchs Foundation, a private funder or grantmaking organisation, operating nationally within South Africa, and focused in the areas of child care, health services and educational programmes.

Professional History


Ndumiso was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in October 1999 and continued to practice as an attorney until he commenced with further studies at the University of Oxford. After Oxford he returned to South Africa and worked as an investment banker for three years. Thereafter he co-founded a commercial law firm in Durban, South Africa, with a strong focus in construction law, corporate and project finance. He took a break from formal legal practice in 2010 and joined Delta BEC as a Project Finance Advisor. He has worked on a number of ground breaking projects in South Africa including airports and harbours.

Qualifications


Baccalaureus Procurationis (B.Proc) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degrees from the University of Natal, South Africa (now part of the merged University of KwaZulu-Natal), and Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) and MBA degrees from Oxford, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar.
