Projects

Africa Health Placements (AHP) Group is a social enterprise working to alleviate the critical shortage of human resources in health. It works with institutions to implement a culture consistent with their values and purpose.  With 25% of the global disease burden, Africa has only 2% of the world’s physicians. This severely impacts the ability of the continent to provide the most basic health services. AHP works to address this human resource crisis through workforce planning, recruitment and retention of health workers and managers in public healthcare. Since inception, AHP has placed over 3,800 health workers (the majority doctors), mostly in rural areas. This has translated into over 24 million consultations having been provided to the most indigent people of the region. In addition, AHP has provided workforce planning and HR retention support to the public healthcare sector, including performing workforce planning in over 500 facilities and training over 10,000 managers, improving retention rates to over 90% in some rural districts. AHP also works with institutions to measurably codify their culture so as to form the basis for all integrated talent management systems.
