Prior to joining the Public Service, Abdu was a Consultant with Pittiglio Rabin Todd & McGrath Consulting (PRTM), USA, where he coordinated the product development efforts for a $123 billion pharmaceutical company. He also consulted for the Harvard Center for International Development, the National Kidney Foundation Singapore, and the governments of Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Prior to that, Abdu worked as a Research Associate at the Boston Medical Center where he executed projects that culminated in the cloning of a human gene.
Medical degree (MB.BS) from the Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria; a Ph.D. in Pathology/Laboratory Medicine from the Boston University; and an MBA from the Harvard Business School
