Fellow appointed to Securities & Exchange Board

2014 Tutu Fellow Risper Alaro-Mukoto has been elected to the board of directors of the Nairobi Securities Exchange Limited. 2018 Leadership workshop at Mont Fleur

The first workshop of the 2018 Archbishop Tutu Leadership Programme was held at the Mont Fleur Conference Centre from the 21st to the 28th of April. The 27 Fellowship candidates came from some 300 nominees of outstanding excellence from over 30 African countries, and represented nine African countries - Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Rwanda, South Africa, Sierra Leone and Egypt.  

The Associates convened in Stellenbosch, Cape Town, where the beautiful and serene mountainous landscape served as the perfect backdrop to inspire deep, uninterrupted reflections.

AFLI Board Member responsible for Bank's Africa interests

2007 Tutu Fellow and AFLI board member, Terence Sibiya, has been appointed Nedbank’s Managing Executive for the Rest of Africa & Subsidiaries. He is responsible for leading and managing the Bank’s Rest of Africa and subsidiary businesses to ensure that they grow and achieve the key strategic objectives of the company.  These include building scale, increasing their share of contribution to the Group’s earnings, and generating returns in excess of the cost of equity.  Prior to this, Terence was the Managing Executive for Client Coverage Nedbank Corporate & Investment Banking and was with Standard Bank, before that.

Fellow heads consumer banking division

In March 2018, Mutsa Chironga, a 2016 Tutu Fellow, was appointed Divisional Executive, Consumer Banking at Nedbank, one of South Africa's "Big Four" banks.  Of Zimbabwean origin, Mutsa has a deep passion for Africa. He was previously a Partner at McKinsey and Company, Johannesburg, where he led the McKinsey African financial services practice, focusing on strategy,
sales transformation, and digital and analytics.
